Coach Jim Benedict is a veteran football coach with a career spanning over 50 years, ranging from the high school to collegiate level to professional developmental leagues. He is widely recognized for his versatility in offensive schemes, particularly the Wing T, the Single Wing and the West Coast Offense.
Coaching Career Highlights
Rutgers University: Following a standout playing career as record setting All-East wide
receiver, Benedict served two stints at his alma mater. He began as a graduate assistant
and receivers coach in the early 1970s and returned from 1996–2000, eventually serving
as the Passing Game Coordinator.
New Jersey High School Football: Benedict established a championship legacy across
several prominent NJ programs:
o Union High School: As Offensive Coordinator, he helped lead the team to multiple
state titles, including the 1979 undefeated squad ranked #1 in New Jersey.
o Summit High School: As Head Coach, he won two state championships (1988 and
1993) and finished the 1993 season with a perfect 11-0 record.
o Overall Impact: He was associated with teams that reached seven state
championship games during his tenure in the state.
o In 2006, Benedict served as Defensive Coordinator of the victorious east squad in
The Army All-American Bowl. The game was played in the Alamo Dome, San
Antonio, Texas.
Professional Developmental Leagues: Post-retirement, Benedict coached wide receivers
for two seasons in the FXFL (Boston Brawlers and Brooklyn Bolts) and spent two
seasons in The Spring League, assisting NFL prospects.

Wing T Offense: 25 seasons (his most utilized system).
Bill Walsh West Coast; Offense: 5 seasons at Rutgers.
